Overview

Human Host ACTINO’s® targets toxin-producing species and clinically relevant organisms associated with chronic sinus and respiratory concerns.

• Detects antibiotic-resistant staph colonization in the nasal cavity.
• Identifies biofilm formation that may protect bacteria from treatment.
• Detects key organisms commonly found in nasal and upper-respiratory environments, including Actinomycetes, Corynebacterium, Staphylococcus, and Propionibacterium.
• Supports more targeted clinical decision-making for persistent sinus or respiratory symptoms (in collaboration with a healthcare professional).

• MecA Gene (Methicillin Resistance): This gene is the hallmark of MRSA (Methicillin-Resistant Staphylococcus aureus). It alters the bacteria’s penicillin-binding proteins (PBP2a), rendering them immune to virtually all beta-lactam antibiotics, including penicillins, cephalosporins, and carbapenems.
• VanA Gene (Vancomycin Resistance): This gene confers high-level resistance to vancomycin, the standard “drug of choice” for treating severe MRSA infections. It works by changing the cell wall building blocks so that vancomycin cannot bind and kill the bacteria
